LOIKALA MANOR SPECIAL CHILD WELFARE UNIT
The
Loikala manor provides 24-hour child welfare foster care service for
12-21-year-old clients
taken into care by municipal social welfare boards. These customers need
help and corrective education for their behavioural problems, psychotherapy
for their various mental symptoms and functional guidance for
practising their coping skills. The goal is to help the young person in
terminating crises, isolating the factors which sustain the problems and
launching the growing-up process.
The Loikala manor provides the
young people with a safe and therapeutic milieu promoting coping, in an
environment in which school attendance, skills practice and various
activities play a central role. The young person´s lack of motivation or
difficulties related to symptomatic behaviour do not hinder placement. The
Loikala manor offers 10 basic care places and forms of housing intended
for practising independet living for 6-8 young people. The working group
consist of professionals in social welfare, healthcare and other fields.
Loikala
Manor is situated in peaceful countryside in Mankala on the brink of the
Kymi-river, 12 km from Iitti commune.
